Introduction
This guide is intended to give persons living with HIV in Wisconsin information about their rights and the many legal issues associated with HIV. It also is intended to assist Wisconsin social service counselors, health care providers, and attorneys. As the title suggests, much of the information we have provided for you is based on laws that apply only in Wisconsin.
To keep things simple, references in this guide to persons living with HIV refer to both persons living with HIV and AIDS. The editors have attempted to present the legal issues in a way that is easy to read.
This guide is not legal advice. Moreover, because the law is constantly changing, information contained in this guide may become outdated. If you need legal counsel or further information, the Resources chapter in the back of the guide has a list of AIDS legal services able to provide free legal assistance.
HIV and Your Rights: A Legal Guide to Wisconsin was produced through the collaborative volunteer efforts of the State Bar of Wisconsin Young Lawyers Division, the AIDS Network, and select attorneys.
