Lawyer Referral and Information Service
Do you think you might need a lawyer or other help with a legal issue? One phone call to the State Bar's Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) will put you in touch with three services -- Lawyer Referral, Lawyer Hotline, and Community Referrals. When appropriate, the LRIS legal assistant can refer you to a lawyer in your area. Maybe all you need is general legal information. LRIS will make an appointment for a lawyer to call you back, free of charge, to briefly discuss your question. Maybe you don't need a lawyer. LRIS can refer you to other legal services organizations, government agencies, or community resources that might be able to help you with your legal concerns.

Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection
The Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, administered as a public service by the State Bar of Wisconsin, reimburses people who have lost money because of dishonest acts by Wisconsin attorneys. A person may be reimbursed up to a maximum amount depending on when the dishonest act or conduct causing the loss occurred.
